## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRPLANE LANDED AT TIETON STATE AIRPORT (4S6). PILOT DIDN?T NOTICE ANY ADVERSE WINDS DURING APPROACH AND LANDING BUT ANTICIPATED THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF AFTERNOON MOUNTAIN WIND GUSTS. THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN SOFTLY AND STRAIGHT WITHOUT A NEED FOR CROSSWIND CORRECTION. DURING THE LANDING ROLL THE PILOT APPLIED NORMAL BRAKE PRESSURE FOR DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. THE AIRPLANE GROUND LOOPED TO THE RIGHT AND AS IT SKIDDED SIDEWAYS THE LEFT GEAR COLLAPSED, FOLDING UNDER THE AIRPLANE ALLOWING THE LEFT WING TO IMPACT THE GROUND. WING DAMAGE INCLUDED REAR SPAR AND A NUMBER OF RIBS.

A DETERMINATION WAS NOT MADE

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA452](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA452), Aug 23, 2016: Simmons Noel SDL (N945PL), Naches, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper landing flare, which resulted in a bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
