## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NORMAL TAKE OFF TO THE WEST ONE PASSENGER. FOUND AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT CLIMB WITH FULL POWER AND ALL ACTIONS PILOT KNEW OR HAVE LEARNED. PILOT SAW THE TREE TOPS AND HOPED TO QUICKLY PULL UP OVER THE TREES BUT WHEELS TOUCHED AND PILOT TOLD PASSENGER "THIS IS NOT GOOD", AND THEN WAS SUCKED INTO THE TREES.

PILOT DID NOT HAVE A CURRENT MEDICAL AND NO FLIGHT REVIEW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN16LA342](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN16LA342), Aug 30, 2016: Fairchild M 62A-3 (N47164), Madison, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to follow the Before Takeoff checklist and his improper use of flaps during takeoff, which degraded the airplane's climb performance and resulted in a collision with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
