## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM RCM TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS IN MISSOURI, THE PILOT REPORTED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. IN AN ATTEMPT TO PERFORM AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FARM FIELD, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A ROW OF TREES RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN16LA355](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN16LA355), Aug 30, 2016: Republic RC3 (N6490K), Post Oak, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to low cylinder compression. Contributing to the loss of engine power was rust formation in the cylinders due to inactivity.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
