## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 1115 MST, A CESSNA CE-172M, SUSTAINED NO DAMAGE AFTER TAKING OFF FROM MISSOULA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, (MSO) MISSOULA, MONTANA AND SUFFERING TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. THAT LED TO AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD APPROXIMATELY 6-7 MILES WEST OF THE MSO AIRPORT. IT WAS A 14 CFR PART 91 PERSONAL FLIGHT. VISUAL METROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE PRIVATE PILOT AND HIS PASSENGER ON BOARD WERE UN INJURED. THE DESTINATION WAS TO BE KALISPELL CITY AIRPORT (S27).

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
