## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT TOOK OFF TO THE WEST FROM ANDERSON LAKE STRIP NORTH OF WASILLA. ON CLIMBOUT THE LEFT WING SLAT SEPARATED FROM THE WING AT THE MIDDLE ATTACH POINT CAUSING THE SLAT TO BUCKLE UPWARD AND LAY AGAINST THE TOP OF THE WING SURFACE. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RETURN TO THE AIRSTRIP BUT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE TURN AND SUBSEQUENTLY CRASHED THROUGH NEARBY TREE TOPS AND ONTO THE SUBDIVISION STREET THAT RUNS PERPENDICULAR TO THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC16LA068](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC16LA068), Sep 16, 2016: Jeffery D Tuttle BDK Carbon Concepts (N8008Z), Wasilla, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The structural failure of both wings’ leading-edge slats, which resulted in a loss of airplane control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
