## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE START UP TO REPOSITION AIRCRAFT TO MAINTENANCE THE PILOT FAILED TO REMOVE THE MAIN ROTOR TIE DOWN STRAP. DURING START THE TIE DOWN STRAP CONTACTED THE TOP OF THE VERTICAL STABILZER. THE PILOT SHUT DOWN AND REMOVED THE MAIN ROTOR TIE DOWN STRAP. THE BEACON WAS STRUCK AND DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT AND THE VERTICAL STABILIZER SUSTAINED DAMAGE ON THE LEADING AND TRAILING EDGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
