## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS WAS AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT CONDUCTED UNDER 4 CFR PART 141. INSTRUCTOR INITIATED A SIMULATED ENGINE FAILURE AND HAD THE STUDENT PERFORM THE AUTOROTATION. AT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL A POWER RECOVERY WAS INITIATED. THE DESCENT WAS NOT ABLE TO BE ARRESTED AND THE ROTORCRAFT CONTINUED TO A LANDING IN VEGETATION THAT WAS APPROXIMATELY 9 FEET TALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA16LA326](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA16LA326), Sep 22, 2016: Hughes 269B (N269BS), Ozark, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined following a successful postaccident engine run on the accident helicopter.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
