## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FOLLOWING JUST OVER 4 HOURS OF FLIGHT IN A RENTAL AIRCRAFT, PILOT LANDED AT KSGS AT AROUND 14:00 ON 09/30/2016. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT'S STATEMENT, IMMEDIATELY AFTER LANDING ON RUNWAY 34 AT SGS, WHITE SMOKE WAS NOTED COMING FROM PILOT'S SIDE WINDOW VENT. PILOT PULLED OFF OF RUNWAY AT MIDFIELD TAXIWAY AND IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, BATTERY MASTER, ALTERNATOR, PULLED FUEL MIXTURE TO CUTOFF, SHUT OFF IGNITION AND REMOVED THE KEY. THE SMOKE HAD TURNED BLACK BY THAT TIME AND AS THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT HE NOTED FIRE FROM BENEATH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. PERSONNEL FROM A NEARBY HANGAR EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
