## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 10/02/2016, N736LZ, A CESSNA 172, ATTEMPTED A TAKE-OFF FROM ROSAMOND SKY PARK, ROSAMOND, CA. AS N736LZ ACCELERATED DOWN THE RUNWAY, THE TAKE-OFF WAS ABORTED. N76LZ ROLLED OFF THE WEST END OF THE RUNWAY, RESULTING IN THE NOSE GEAR FAILING, AND THE SEPARATION OF THE ENGINE FROM THE AIRFRAME. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY THE PILOT OR PASSENGERS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR17CA001](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR17CA001), Oct 2, 2016: Cessna R172K (N736LZ), Rosamond, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper use of the control lock, combined with his incomplete execution of two pre-departure procedures, which resulted in a takeoff with the control lock installed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
