## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE LANDING AND TOUCHDOWN PHASE AT THE AIRMAN'S PRIVATE GRASS RUNWAY, THE AIRMAN FAILED TO CENTER THE NOSE GEAR ON TOUCH DOWN DURING A CROSS-WIND LANDING, RESULTING IN SIDE LOADS THAT BENT THE NOSE GEAR AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER. DAMAGE FROM THE ACCIDENT WAS MOST EVIDENT TO THE RIGHT WING SPAR AND AILERON. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA003](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA003), Oct 2, 2016: Andrew Harold Stol CH 701 (N768HA), Berryton, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll in crosswind conditions, which resulted in a runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
