## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A RETURN FLIGHT FROM 27XS, WHERE THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN FOR AN ANNUAL INSPECTION, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WITH NO PRIOR INDICATIONS GIVEN. AN ENGINE RESTART WAS ATTEMPTED WITH NO SUCCESS. A SUITABLE LANDING AREA WAS SELECTED BECAUSE OF THE EXTENSIVE DISTANCE TO THE DESTINATION AIRPORT. A LANDING WAS EXICUTED WITH THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINING SUBSTANCIAL DAMAGE TO THE LOWER REGIONS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17LA015](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17LA015), Oct 7, 2016: Milholland Kelly D (N522LM), Livingston, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined based on the available information.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
