## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CESSNA N488E BEGAN TO DEVELOP LIFT ON DEPARTURE OF RUNWAY 06. BACKPRESSURE WAS RELAXED TO HOLD AIRCRAFT IN GROUND EFFECT TO INCREASE AIRSPEED TO OBTAIN A SAFE CLIMBING SPEED, BUT THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED BACK TO THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE GROUND FOR THE SECOND TIME, BUT AGAIN BEGAN TO SETTLE. A DECISION TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF WAS THEN MADE AND FIRM BRAKING FORCE WAS APPLIED. THE AIRCRAFT SLID OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND PROCEEDED TO TRAVEL ANOTHER 40 YARDS BEFORE COMING TO REST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA051](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA051), Oct 14, 2016: Cessna 152 (N488E), Chickaloon, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's delay in aborting the takeoff from a turf runway, which resulted in a runway overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System.
