## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE DECEDENT WAS ACTING AS JUMPMASTER FOR A GROUP OF STATIC LINE JUMPERS WITH MILITARY TYPE PARACHUTES. HE DID NOT INTEND TO JUMP AND DID NOT HAVE HIS STATIC LINE CONNECTED. HIS RESERVE PARACHUTE WAS ACCIDENTLY DEPLOYED IN THE AIRCRAFT AND HE WAS PULLED FROM THE AIRCRAFT BY THE SLIPSTREAM, STRIKING AND DAMAGING THE AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE. IT APPEARS THAT THE DECEDENT WAS INCAPACITATED AFTER STRIKING THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS UNABLE TO ATTEMPT TO DEPLOY THE MAIN PARACHUTE.

AIRCRAFT RETUNED TO X-35 AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA17LA018](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA17LA018), Oct 14, 2016: Cessna 208 (N208KM), Dunnellon, FL, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The jumpmaster's failure to guard the reserve parachute ripcord, which caused an inadvertent deployment of his reserve parachute.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
