## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER LANDING ON RUNWAY 04 AT AIZ, THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED BACK TO THE END OF RUNWAY 04. WITNESSES STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED THERE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING BEFORE INITIATING TAKEOFF. SHORTLY AFTER TAKING OFF ON RUNWAY 04, THE AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH TREES BEFORE IMPACTING TERRAIN AND COMING TO A REST ON THE NORTH EAST SIDE OF THE AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET TO EAST OF THE END OF RUNWAY 04, NEAR A HIKING TRAIL IN A STATE PARK WITH THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT POINTED APPROXIMATELY 200 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO DESCEND THROUGH THE TREES IN A RIGHT WING LOW, NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS MOSTLY INTACT AT THE ACCIDENT SITE WITH IMPACT SIGNATURES THAT APPEARED TO REFLECT A HIGH ANGLE, LOW VELOCITY IMPACT. PART OF THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE AND WINGTIP WAS LOCATED IN THE TREES APPROXIMATELY 45 FEET ABOVE THE TERRAIN AND THE NOSE GEAR WAS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT ABOUT 30 FEET AWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17FA024](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17FA024), Oct 22, 2016: Beech C23 (N20087), Osage Beach, MO, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of control while maneuvering shortly after takeoff. Contributing to the loss of control was the pilot's attempt to climb with the flaps fully extended.

## Other reports on N20087 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
