## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT ENTERED LEFT DOWN WIND FOR LANDING AND DEPLOYED LANDING GEAR. UPON DEPLOYMENT THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR INBOARD LONG DOOR DEPARTED THE AIRCRAT. THE DOOR TWISTED AROUND AND DAMAGED THE OUTBOARD PORTION OF THE LEFT NACCELLE AND WENT ON TO DAMAGE THE INBOARD SECTION OF THE LEFT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER AND INBOARD SECTION OF LEFT HORIZONTAL ELEVATOR. AIRCRAFT GEAR DOOR WAS LATER RECOVERED FROM LAND OWNER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17LA033](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17LA033), Oct 29, 2016: North American TB 25N (N25YR), Dallas, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The overstress failure of the landing gear connecting rod and the improper installation of the arresting cables, which allowed the landing gear door to depart in flight and impact the airplane.

## Other reports on N25YR (2)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
