## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC WAS PRACTICING LANDINGS IN THE AIRCRAFT ON RUNWAY 17. ON THE SECOND LANDING, THE PIC STATED THAT HER APPROACH TO THE RUNWAY WAS FASTER THAN USUAL. SHE STATED THAT THE EXCESS AIRSPEED CAUSED HER TO BALLOON WHEN SHE FLARED FOR LANDING, AND DURING HER RECOVERY FROM THE BALLOON SHE STRUCK THE GROUND HARD IN A FLAT ATTITUDE. AN EYEWITNESS STATED THAT HE HEARD THE NOSE LANDING GEAR FULLY COMPRESS, WHICH MADE AN AUDIBLE BANG. THE PIC APPLIED FULL POWER AND WENT AROUND. THE EYEWITNESS REPORTED THE EVENT TO PERSONNEL AT THE FBO, WHO CONTACTED THE PIC VIA THE COMMON TRAFFIC ADVISORY FREQUENCY AND ADVISED HER TO LAND AND RETURN TO THE FBO. THE PIC MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING AND TAXIIED TO THE RAMP. INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT FOUND SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT FIREWALL IN TWO LOCATIONS. NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
