## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 5 AT KBLF ON 11/22/2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 1220 LOCAL. AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RUNWAY CENTERLINE TO THE RIGHT APPROXIMATELY 75% DOWN THE RUNWAY AND INTO THE GRASS WHERE IT CAME TO REST. DURING THIS EVENT THE AIRCRAFT HAD BECOME BRIEFLY AIRBORNE. SUBSEQUENT IMPACT WITH THE RUNWAY SURFACE APPEARS TO BE ON A VECTOR THAT DIVERGED FROM THE CENTERLINE/RUNWAY HEADING TO THE RIGHT. THE IMPACT CREATED TWO ELONGATED DIVOTS IN THE GROOVED PAVEMENT APPROXIMATELY 1-2 INCHES IN DEPTH WITH DRAG MARKS CONTINUING ALONG THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS FOLDED REARWARD FROM THE IMPACT AT SOME POINT AND BECAME INEFFECTIVE FOR BRAKING AND/OR GROUND STABILITY. THE NOSE GEAR AND STRUT HAD SEPARATED FROM THE ATTACHING POINTS. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED BY EITHER THE PILOT OR THE SINGLE PASSENGER WHOM WAS OCCUPYING ONE OF THE FRONT CREW SEATS. THE ONLY OTHER OCCUPANTS WERE TWO DOGS, WHICH WERE UNHARMED.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE FELT THE ENGINE WAS NOT PROVIDING SUFFICIENT POWER DURING THE TAKEOFF AND DECIDED TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA17LA063](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA17LA063), Nov 22, 2016: Cirrus Design SR22 (N217CE), Bluefield, WV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the aborted takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
