## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER DEPARTING PORT ARANSAS TX, THE PILOT REPORTED STRIKING SEVERAL DUCKS DURING CLIMEOUT AT APPROX 400 FEET AGL WHICH REQUIRED AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THE BIRD STRIKE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT ENGINE WHICH RESULTED IN THE COMPRESSOR SEPARATING FROM THE ENGINE THAT PUNCTURED PORTIONS OF THE FUSELAGE AND RIGHT WING. PILOT MADE NORMAL LANDING. NO INJURY TO PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17LA136](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17LA136), Dec 5, 2016: Cessna 550 (N75WL), Port Aransas, TX, substantial damage. From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
