## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE 15 MILES OUT FROM KTRM, THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) DESCENDED TO 6500FT FOR FINAL APPROACH. WHEN THE PIC SWITCHED THE FUEL SELECTOR FROM RIGHT FUEL TANK TO LEFT THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE SHUT DOWN. HE THEN RETURNED THE SELECTOR TO RIGHT TANK, FULL THROTTLE, MIXTURE, PROPS, AND PUMPS ON. RE-ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE BUT NO FIRE.

SHORTLY AFTER THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND SEVERE INJURIES TO THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR17LA036](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR17LA036), Dec 12, 2016: Cessna T210M (N761SZ), Mecca, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation during approach, which necessitated a gear-up landing on unsuitable terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
