## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT MADE TAKEOFF FROM KRYY, APPEARED TO BE ATTEMPTING A SHORT FIELD TAKEOFF. AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE DRIFTING TOWARD THE TREES, PILOT DID NOT CORRECT UNTIL AIRCRAFT DID HIT THE TREES, WHEREUPON IT (THE AIRCRAFT) SLID DOWN THE TREE TRUNK UNTIL IT STRUCK THE GROUNE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA17LA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA17LA078), Jan 5, 2017: Aircraft Mfg & Development CH 2000 (N683AM), Atlanta, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's exceedance of the airplane's critical angle of attack while attempting a short-field takeoff, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
