## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC WAS ON A DEMONSTRATION FLIGHT WITH A PROSPECTIVE BUYER IN HIS BELLANCA 14-19-2 CRUISEMASTER, N9842B. UPON RETURNING TO FALCON FIELD, AZ, THE PIC ENTERED A RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 4R AND PROCEEDED TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR. THE CRUISEMASTER HAS TWO METHODS FOR INDICATING LANDING GEAR POSITION: TWO RED LIGHTS (LANDING GEAR UP) AND TWO GREEN LIGHTS (LANDING GEAR DOWN) ARE SHOWN ON THE PANEL AS WELL AS SMALL TABS THAT PROTRUDE FROM THE WING SURFACE AS AN EXTERNAL INDICATOR OF LANDING GEAR POSITION. THE PIC NOTED THAT THE WING TABS WERE EXTENDED BUT WAS NOT CONFIDENT OF THEIR POSITION. HE CYCLED THE LANDING GEAR THREE MORE TIMES. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE GREEN LIGHTS ON THE PANEL WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. WITH THE TAB INDICATORS IN POSITION THE PIC BELIEVED THE LANDING GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED AND PROCEEDED WITH THE LANDING. WHILE TOUCHING DOWN ON THE RUNWAY THE PIC STATED THE AIRCRAFT "MUSHED" ONTO ITS BELLY AS THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CONSISTED OF BENT PROPELLER BLADES AND SLIGHT DAMAGE TO THE INBOARD FLAP SURFACES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO PIC OR PASSENGER

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
