## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT FLYING FROM KHPY TO KTUL HAD A VACUUM PUMP FAILURE AND OTHER ANOMALIES THAT CAUSED CONCERN AND RESULTED IN HIM SWITCHING FUEL TANK BACK FROM A FULL TANK TO AN EMPTY TANK. LOST POWER WHILE DESCENDING AND WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. FELT IT WAS SAFER TO LAND THEN TO ATTEMPT FURTHER TROUBLE SHOOTING. LANDED SAFELY, IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AND TOOK BACK OFF WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT AND LANDED AT KTUL.

- [Incident 19841026063989I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19841026063989I), Oct 26, 1984: Piper PA32300 (N5247F), Tulsa, OK. Alternator failure followed by battery failure pilot lost radio contact and descended below clouds to land.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
