## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED WILEY POST AND FLEW SOUTH TO CHICKASHA AIRPORT. AFTER DEPARTING THE CHICKASHA AIRPORT THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO 5500 FEET HEADED NORTH. WHILE ENROUTE THE AIRCRAFT WAS OBSERVED ON RADAR SLOWING TO 90 KTS AT 5500 FT. ONE OF THE LAST RADAR OBSERVATIONS SHOWED THE AIRCRAFT AT APPROXIMATELY 77 KNOTS OVER THE APPROXIMATE ACCIDENT SCENE (9 MINUTE FLIGHT FROM DEPARTURE). WITNESSES A QUARTER MILE WEST OF THE SCENE OBSERVED THE AIRCRAFT FROM A HIGH ALTITUDE SPINNING. THE WITNESSES CONTINUED TO WATCH THE AIRCRAFT AND WHEN IT DISAPPEARED BELOW TREE LEVEL THEY SAW AND HEARD AN EXPLOSION. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY 1522 LOCAL TIME. PILOT WAS FATAL, AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED BY POST IMPACT FIRE. DEBRIS FIELD AROUND THE AIRPLANE CONSISTED OF PIECES OF PLASTIC FROM WINDOWS AND BAFFLES OR LINING FROM THE TIP TANKS. DEBRIS WAS ANYWHERE FROM 30-40 FEET, BUT ALMOST ALL THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED IN ONE LOCATION, APPROXIMATELY A FOOT FROM IMPACT. AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO HIT IN A SLIGHT NOSE AND RIGHT WING DOWN ATTITUDE WHEN IMPACTING THE GROUND. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON A 160 DEGREE HEADING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17FA138](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17FA138), Mar 24, 2017: Beech V35 (N2053Y), Union City, OK, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's improper recovery from a spin.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
