## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 8, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 1330L, THE PILOT OF A T-6A AIRCRAFT WAS ATTEMPTING TO CONDUCT A FULL STOP LANDING ON RWY 04 AT CULPEPER REGIONAL AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONFIGURED TO LAND WITH FULL FLAPS. THE WEATHER WAS VFR WITH CLEAR SKIES AND WINDS REPORTED TO BE 290 AT 8 KNOTS GUSTING TO 16. THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN AND DURING ROLLOUT THE PILOT STATED HIS LEFT WING ROSE UP. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL USING RUDDER AND AILERON AND DECIDED TO ATTEMPT TO ADD POWER. THE RIGHT WING REMAINED IN CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND OFF THE RUNWAY. MARKS ON THE RUNWAY CONFIRM THAT THE RIGHT WINGTIP TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 350FT ON THE RUNWAY AND THEN ANOTHER 135FT IN THE GRASS BEFORE FLIPPING OVER. THE PIC WAS ABLE TO EGRESS THE AIRCRAFT AND THEN AIDED HIS PASSENGER (INITIALLY UNCONSCIOUS) OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA17CA149](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA17CA149), Apr 8, 2017: North American T 6G (N3167G), Culpepper, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airplane and directional control during the landing roll and subsequent go-around in gusting wind conditions.
