## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

BOTH AIRCRAFT WERE LANDING ON THE SAME RUNWAY, IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. THE WIND WAS LIGHT AND VARIABLE SO EITHER RUNWAY WAS APPROPRIATE.

WHILE IN THE PATTERN, NEITHER PILOT OBSERVED ANY TRAFFIC. ON ROLL OUT,THE PILOT OF THE 172 SAW THE J3 CUB AND ATTEMPTED TO AVOID HIM. THE RIGHT WING OF THE 172 HIT THE RIGHT WING LEADING EDGE OF THE J3 CUB CAUSING BOTH AIRCRAFT TO PIVOT. BOTH AIRCRAFT WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA223](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA223), Apr 8, 2017: Cessna 172 (N8350U), New Carlisle, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The other pilot’s decision to land on an occupied runway and his failure to see and avoid the airplane.

## Other reports on N8350U (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19820722050619I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820722050619I), Jul 22, 1982: Cessna 172B (N8350U), New Carlisle, OH, Minor damage. Pilot claims interior lights failed on final. Landed long, overshot runway, hit bank. No lighting abnormalities.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
