## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT TOOK OFF, AT A 130 DEGREE HEADING, WITH A QUARTERING TAILWIND. THE PILOT STATED ONCE THE AIRPLANE BECAME AIRBORNE, HE FELT COULD NOT GAIN THE ALTITUDE NEEDED TO CLEAR A TREE LINE SO HE BANKED HARD LEFT TO AN APPROXIMATE HEADING OF 90 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS STILL UNABLE TO OBTAIN LIFT. HE REALIZED HE NEEDED TO CLEAR POWER LINES THAT WERE AHEAD OF HIM, AND PULLED HARD BACK ON THE STICK. AS THE AIRPLANE CLEARED THE POWER LINES, THE LEFT WING STALLED AND THE AIRCRAFT LOST ALL LIFT.

GROUND SCARRING AND EXAMINATION OF THE WRECKAGE INDICATES AFTER THE AIRCRAFT CLEARED THE POWER LINES, THE LEFT WING STALLED AND THE AIRPLANE IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE, AT AN ESTIMATED ANGLE OF BETWEEN 40 TO 50 DEGREES. THE WRECKAGE ALSO INDICATES THAT THE AIRCRAFT ?PIROUETTED? COUNTERCLOCKWISE, ON ITS NOSE, BEFORE COMING TO ITS FINAL POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The pilot's improper pretakeoff planning, his failure to maintain adequate airspeed, and his exceedance of the airplane's critical angle of attack during a short-field takeoff with a tailwind, which…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong.
