## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N95551 WAS ON A TEST FLIGHT AFTER MAINTENANCE. THE PILOT DESCENDED RAPIDLY TRYING TO DO A ?HIGH ENERGY? PASS DOWN THE RUNWAY TRYING TO REPRODUCE A PROBLEM THE SCHOOL WAS HAVING WITH THE AIRCRAFT. ONCE OVER THE RUNWAY THE PILOT APPLIED FULL POWER AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. PILOT RAN OUT OF RUNWAY TO LAND ON SO HE TURNED AND LANDED IN THE BIG PATCH OF GRASS NEXT TO THE RUNWAY. THE FIELD WAS WET AND WHEN THE NOSE WHEEL HIT THE GRASS THE NOSE WHEEL SUNK DOWN AND FLIPPED THE AIRPLANE OVER ON ITS BACK.

MX INSPECTOR DRAINED CARB AND GASCOLATOR AND FOUND A LOT WATER IN THE FUEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17LA153](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17LA153), Apr 12, 2017: Cessna 152 (N95551), La Porte, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel contamination, which resulted from the pilot’s inadequate preflight inspection that did not detect water contamination.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
