## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER LANDING AND WORKING IN THE AREA FOR 4 HOURS, PILOT WALKED THE RUNWAY TO FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH THE SURFACE. AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, TAIL STILL DOWN A BIT, RESULTING IN LIMITED VISIBILITY AND DID NOT ALLOW HIM TO SEE A ROCK ON THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. RIGHT TIRE CONTACTED THE ROCK CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO TURN OFF THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT INTO SMALL TREES, AIRCRAFT FLIPED OVER ON ITS BACK. NO INJURIES, PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER (SON). NOT WEARING HELMETS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA264](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA264), May 6, 2017: Stinson 108 (N9510K), Pedro Bay, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the takeoff roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
