## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS, ON HIS LAST APPROACH THE PILOT STALLED THE AIRCRAFT AT APPROXIMATELY 6 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY, RESULTING IN A HARD LANDING. THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE RUNWAY AND THE MAIN GEAR BROKE, FORCING THE WING SPAR TO DEFORM AND BEND UP INTO THE COCKPIT AREA OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE BUT THE OCCUPANT WAS UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA273](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA273), May 5, 2017: Adrian George W Europa Classic (N7854M), Wellington, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper landing flare and exceedance of the airplane’s critical angle of attack during landing, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.
