## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THE FOURTH LANDING WHEN PRACTICING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS FOR THE 2017 OSHKOSH STOL COMPETITION, A GUST OF WIND DROPPED THE LEFT WING. THE WING CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE SAGE BRUSH AT THE UNIMPROVED LANDING SITE. THE PILOT APPLIED ENGINE POWER; HOWEVER, COULD NOT REGAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND AND SPUN LEFT AND THEN NOSED OVER COMING TO A REST INVERTED. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNINJURED

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA287](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA287), May 12, 2017: Johnson Kenneth W Super CUB Sport (N1111E), Austin, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain adequate airspeed during landing in gusting wind conditions, which resulted in a loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
