## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED DOGSLED CAMP FOLLOWING THE RIGHT SIDE DOWN THE GLACIER MAINTAINING VISUAL REFERENCE WITH THE ROCK WALL. APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF A MILE DOWN THE GLACIER FROM CAMP THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED FOG AT A BEND IN THE GLACIER, PIC ELECTED TO DO A SLOW TURN TOWARDS THE ROCKS WHEN THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE SNOW. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED ON THE GLACIER WITH THE CABIN MOSTLY INTACT. PIC WAS NOT ABLE TO RETARD THE STUCK FUEL CONTROL LEVER, THE FUEL SHUT OFF WAS PULLED AND THE MAIN BATTERY SWITCH TUNED OFF. ALL PASSENGERS WERE ABLE TO DEPART THE AIRCRAFT ON THEIR OWN EXCEPT FOR ONE WHO'S SEATBELT WAS CUT BY THE PIC.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC17LA025](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC17LA025), May 23, 2017: Airbus AS350 (N207CH), Juneau, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to depart into an area of degraded visual meteorological and flat light conditions, which resulted in a loss of visual references and subsequent controlled flight into terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
