## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON A IFR PART 91 FLIGHT TO MDW, CHICAGO MIDWAY. A BIRD WAS STRUCK ON CLIMB OUT FROM PWA, WILEY POST. THE BIRD WAS THOUGHT TO BE A HAWK. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE BIRD ABOUT 2800 FEET MSL, 1/2 MILES FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 35R. THE AIRCRAFT STAYED IN THE LOCAL AREA TO REDUCE WEIGHT AND RETURNED TO PWA.

POST FLIGHT NOTED DAMAGE ON THE RIGHT WING LEADING EDGE FROM THE IMPACT. THE DAMAGE WAS APPROXMENTLY 24 INCHES ALONG THE RIGHT LEADING EDGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
