## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ON A LOCAL FLIGHT AND WHILE ON DESCENT TO LANDING, PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON THE NUMBERS WHEN THE NOSE GEAR OF AIRCRAFT MADE CONTACT WITH GROUND PRIOR TO MAKING IT TO THE RUNWAY.

6-12-17: CONTACTED NTSB AND INFORMED THEM OF THE CORRECT DATE AND LOCATION. -23 IS CORRECT, NTSB IS NOT CORRECT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA322](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA322), May 27, 2017: Piper PA28 (N5544J), Gilbert, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper glidepath in variable wind conditions, which resulted in the airplane impacting terrain short of the runway threshold.

## Other reports on N5544J (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19920824032929A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920824032929A), Aug 24, 1992: Piper PA28140 (N5544J), Marseiller, IL, Substantial damage. Engine sputtered on takeoff. Settled to runway tried go around. Ran off end runway into tall grass.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
