## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT ON A SUPERVISED SOLO TOUCH-AND-GO FLEW HIGH AND FAST ON LANDING ATTEMPT WHICH RESULTED IN A FLAT LANDING AND PILOT INDUCED OSCILLATION UPON TOUCH DOWN. THE NOSE GEAR IMPACT WITH THE RUNWAY CAUSED FIREWALL DAMAGE AND FRAME DAMAGE INSIDE THE COCKPIT AREA WHICH REDUCED CONTROL WHEEL MOVEMENT AND TRAVEL. STUDENT PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT NOSE GEAR CONTACTED THE GROUND FIRST WHICH RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCING 4 OR 5 TIMES WITH AIRCRAFT BOUNCING HIGHER EACH TIME. THE PILOT EXECUTED A GO-AROUND AND LANDED SAFELY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA312](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA312), May 30, 2017: Cessna 172 (N483SP), El Cajon, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's incorrect landing flare, which resulted in the airplane porpoising upon touchdown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
