## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

APPROACHING A SHORT, BACK COUNTRY AIRSTRIP THE PILOT ENTERED THE FLARE WITH INSUFFICIENT AIRSPEED, INCREASING PITCH ATTITUDE TO ARREST THE DESCENT. DESCENT WAS NOT ARRESTED AND THE AIRPLANE HIT THE GROUND HARD, BOUNCED AND DRIFTED LEFT. AT THE SECOND BOUNCE THE LEFT MAIN GEAR TOUCHED DOWN LEFT OF THE RUNWAY EDGE, PULLING THE AIRPLANE FURTHER LEFT WHERE IT STRUCK TWO TREES WITH THE LEFT WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA320](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA320), Jun 2, 2017: Cessna 182 (N5011D), Elk City, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain adequate airspeed and his exceedance of the wing’s angle of attack while on short final, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
