## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL FROM A REMOTE AIRSTRIP THAT WAS 50' TO 60' WIDE, THE AIRPLANE DRIFTED RIGHT OF CENTERLINE TO AVOID A STACK OF HAY BALES LOCATED APROX 1000' DOWN THE RUNWAY AND 20'-40' FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRSTRIP. THE RIGHT OUTBOARD SECTION OF THE SPRAYBAR ATTACHED UNDER THE RIGHT WING GOT CAUGHT IN THE WHEAT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRSTRIP. THE PILOT THEN LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE AND GOT PULLED TO THE RIGHT, INTO THE WHEAT FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA323](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA323), Jun 5, 2017: Air Tractor AT 802 (N802NB), Prosser, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s abrupt maneuver to avoid hay bales during the takeoff roll, which resulted in a loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
