## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT, A TRICYCLE POWERED PARACHUTE, TOOK OFF FROM A PRIVATE FIELD AT THE OWNER/PILOT'S RESIDENCE.

THERE WAS NO WEATHER REPORTING AVAILABLE LOCALLY, BUT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT THE WINDS AT SURROUNDING AIRPORTS WERE APPROXIMATELY 350 AT 6 KNOTS, WITHOUT ANY GUSTS, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN NEARLY STRAIGHT DOWN THE RUNWAY.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER LIFTING OFF, IT TURNED LEFT APPROXIMATELY 90 DEGREES AND CROSSED A FIELD. ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE FIELD, THE TRICYCLE PART OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK POWERLINES NEXT TO THE ADJACENT ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35 FT AGL. THE PILOT WAS EJECTED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND FELL TO THE GROUND.

THE AIRCRAFT LANDED NEARBY WITH IT'S FRAME LARGELY INTACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA17FA211](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA17FA211), Jun 25, 2017: Buckeye Powered Parachutes Dream Machine 582 (N50130), Federalsburg, MD, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control during takeoff, which resulted in a collision with power lines. Contributing to the accident was the pilot's lack of experience in powered parachutes.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
