## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS APPLYING CHEMICALS TO A CORN FIELD PARALLEL TO A POWERLINE. APPROACHING AN INTERSECTING POWERLINE, THE PILOT PULLED UP TO TURN WHEN HIS RIGHT SPRAY BOOM CONTACTED THE INTERSECTING WIRE. UPON CONTACT WITH THE WIRE, THE FUSELAGE PITCHED, CAUSING THE MAIN ROTOR BLADE TO CUT THE TAIL BOOM OFF JUST AFT OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. THE AIRCRAFT SPUN RAPIDLY ONE TO TWO TIMES BEFORE THE PILOT CLOSED THE THROTTLE, WHICH STOPPED THE SPINNING. THE PILOT CUSHIONED THE LANDING BY USING THE REMAINING COLLECTIVE PITCH, AND CAME TO REST LEVEL IN THE CORN FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA402](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA402), Jun 30, 2017: Bell 206 (N60KH), Uniontown, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate separation from power lines, which resulted in a loss of helicopter control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
