## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 3RD AT APPROXIMATELY 4:30PM EST. PILOT WAS TAXING TO RUNWAY 35 AT ST. SIMONS AIRPORT (KSSI), WITH PASSENGERS ON BOARD FOR A SIGHT SEEING FLIGHT IN WACO UPF-7, S/N 5484, N134Q. WHILE TURNING OFF THE APRON AND ON TO THE TAXIWAY, THE RIGHT MAIL LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. THE PASSENGERS AND PILOT DISEMBARKED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. A QUICK LOOK AT THE AIRPLANE REVEALED THAT THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR RADIUS ROD HAD FAILED. AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30PM THE AVIATION SAFETY INSPECTOR WAS CONTACTED REGARDING N134Q. THE PILOT AND THE KSSI AIRPORT MANAGER REQUESTED PERMISSION FROM THE INSPECTOR TO MOVE THE AIRCRAFT OFF THE TAXIWAY. INSPECTOR REQUESTED PICTURES OF THE AIRPLANE TO INCLUDE THE FAILED MAIN GEAR RADIUS ROD, THE PICTURES WERE PROVIDED, AND THE INSPECTOR GRANTED THEM PERMISSION TO MOVE THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT REMOVED THE MAIN LANDING GEAR RADIUS ROD, MADE A TEMPORARY REPAIR TO THE RADIUS ROD, USED A CRANE TO LIFT THE AIRCRAFT, TEMPORARILY REINSTALLED THE MAIN LANDING GEAR RADIUS ROD, LOWERED THE AIRCRAFT, AND TOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO HIS HANGAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
