## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A CLEAR VFR DAY, DUE TO TRAFFIC IN THE PATTERN THE CREW WAS GIVEN SPECIAL LANDING INSTRUCTIONS TO ENTER THE PATTERN ON AN EXTENDED LEFT BASE FOR RUNWAY 23 AT NAPLES MUNI (KAPF). THE PILOT AND THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT ALLOWED THEMSELVES TO BECOME DISTRACTED WITH UNNECESSARY CONVERSATION. N722WM WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 23. THE AIRPLANE WAS TURNED ONTO FINAL AND WAS LANDED ON RUNWAY 23 WITH THE GEAR UP. EYE WITNESSES STATED THAT THE GEAR WAS LOWERED DOWN DURING THE APPROACH AND FLARE TO LANDING. WHEN THE AIRPLANE WAS LIFTED OFF THE GROUND BY MEANS OF A STRAP LIFTED BY A FORKLIFT IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT WHEN THE MASTER SWITCH WAS TURNED ON WITH THE GEAR HANDLE IN THE DOWN POSITION THE GEAR LOWERED NORMALLY. LATER WITH THE AIRPLANE ON JACK STANDS THE LANDING GEAR WAS EXERCISED SEVERAL TIMES AND OPERATED PERFECTLY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
