AIRCRAFT WAS IN LEVELFLIGHT WHEN THE ENGINE QUIT.  PIC WAS UNABLE TO RESTART.  THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE WHEN THE STUDENT PILOT ATTEMPTED A FORCED LANDING IN A CORNFIELD.  THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPENT AND WAS NOT INJURED.
