## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ENROUTE FROM KPBI TO KTMB AND AT AN ALTITUDE OF 1,100 FEET, THE CESSNA 172M, N80457, EXPERIENCED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE AND LOSS OF POWER. THE PILOT MANEUVERED THE AIRCRAFT TO LAND ON A NEARBY ROAD. DURING THE APPROACH TO THE ROAD, THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A METAL STREET LIGHT POLE WITH THE RIGHT WING AND A TREE LIMB WITH THE PROPELLER SPINNER. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK TWO SMALLER ROAD SIGNS BEFORE COMING TO REST. THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNINJURED. THE SECOND PILOT SUSTAINED AN INJURY TO HIS NOSE AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. HE WAS TREATED AND RELEASED THE SAME DAY.
