## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE WICHITA FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE CENTRAL REGION COMMAND CENTER (ROC), CONCERNING AN INCIDENT INVOLVING A SINGLE ENGINE AIRCRAFT WHICH REPORTEDLY GROUND LOOPED DURING LANDING. THE PILOT IN COMMAND REPORTED TO INSPECTOR RAGIN THAT THE RUNWAY HAD A SLOPE AND HE EXPERIENCED A GUST OF WIND DURING LANDING AND LOST CONTROL. DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED BY THE TAILWHEEL GEAR, THE AFT FUSELAGE, AND THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED BY THE PILOT NOR THE SINGLE PASSENGER. DURING THE INCIDENT THE WINDS WERE REPORTED TO BE LESS THAN 10 KNOTS. THE PLANE WAS REPORTED TO HAVE SKIDDED ON IT'S TIRES AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THEN SLID COMPLETELY AROUND .

AN INSPECTOR FROM THE KANSAS CITY FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE ASSISTED ON SITE BY TAKING PHOTGRAPHS AND INSPECTING THE AIRCRAFT. THE DEGREE OF DAMAGE SUSTAINED BY THE AIRCRAFT WAS DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE UNTIL THE FABRIC IS REMOVED FROM AROUND THE DAMAGED AREAS, BUT APPEARED NOT TO BE SUBSTANTIAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA449](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA449), Jul 22, 2017: Radford Darrel F Christen Eagle II (N304DR), Atchison, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll in crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
