## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS DEPARTING HENDERSON NEVADA ON A FERRY FLIGHT TO OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON, WHERE THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO START A SUPPORT CONTRACT WITH THE U.S. AIR FORCE.

THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT OF GROUND EFFECT ON DEPARTURE, CLIPPED A ROADWAY BEFORE IMPACTING DESERT TERRAIN APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF MILE FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE MAJORITY OF THE DAMAGE WAS FROM UNDERWING TANKS AND PODS BREAKING OFF AT THE INITIAL POINT OF IMPACT AND THEN THERMAL DAMAGE FROM THE POST-CRASH FIRE. THE PILOT SELF-EXTRICATED. HE WAS EXAMINED AT THE SCENE BY PARAMEDICS AND RELEASED WITH NO INJURIES.

THE PILOT INDICATED THAT ALL ENGINE INSTRUMENTS APPEARED NORMAL BEFORE AND DURING HIS STATIC TAKEOFF, THAT HE ROTATED AT 105 KNOTS, RATHER THAN THE NORMAL 95 KNOTS, DUE TO THE TEMPERATURE. HE STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 115KNOTS, WHEREAS IT WOULD NORMALLY ACCELERATE TO A CLIMB SPEED OF 130 KNOTS.
