## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 3, 2017, AT APPROXIMATELY 11:00 CENTRAL TIME, AN EXPERIMENTAL WEIGHT-SHIFT AIRCRAFT (TRIKE), REGISTERED AS N165AB LANDED ON RUNWAY 11 AT THE DANVILLE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, DANVILLE, ARKANSAS. ON ROLLOUT, THE LEFT MAIN TIRE CAME OFF THE RIM DUE TO EXCESSIVE BRAKING BY UNCERTIFICATED PILOT AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT OFF OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT TURNED APPROXIMATELY 45 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND FLIPPED OVER ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE AND CAME TO A STOP ON THE RUNWAY SHOULDER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGE. ONE PERSON ON BOARD OPERATING THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17LA312](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17LA312), Aug 3, 2017: Ralph Marine Devil DOG (N165AB), Danville, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: A separation of the left tire from its wheel because of the use of an improper substance and wheel size, which resulted in a loss of directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
