## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE RETURNING FROM A TRAININING FLIGHT TO PREP FOR A COMMERCIAL CHECK RIDE, ENGINE POWER WAS LOST DUE TO AN UNDETERMINED REASON. THE LOSS HAPPENED AT ABOUT 900 FEEL AGL AND POWER COULD NOT BE RESTORED. EMERGANCY LANDING WAS INITIATED AND THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK TREES WHEN A CLEAR FIELD COULD NOT BE REACHED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN17LA316](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN17LA316), Aug 11, 2017: Navion Navion G (N249KC), Adrian, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: A leak in the gascolator, which allowed air to enter the fuel system and resulted in a partial loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
