## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

08/12/2017 2026PDT; 0326Z, N40PS, 1991 MYERS WILLIAM C, GLASAIR SERIAL# 316, AIRCRAFT LOST ENGINE POWER, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND MADE A FORCED LANDING ON AN INDIAN RESERVATION ROAD 70 EAST OF KAYENTA . 1-POB, 0-INJURIES, MINOR-DAMAGE TO LANDING GEAR. FLIGHT ROUTE FROM EVENINGTON, WYOMING, AIPORT (EVW) TO SAFFORD AIRPORT (SAD).

A SIDE LOAD OCCURRED TO THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSING IT AND CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER OFF THE ROAD INTO AN EMBANKMENT COLLAPSING THE NOSE GEAR. THE #1 CYLINDER WAS RUNNING A LITTLE HOT THE PILOT STATED AND SO HE ENRICHED THE MIXTURE TO COOL IT OFF AND THEN ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER THE CYLINDER MISS FIRED AND CAUSE THE ENGINE TO LOSS OIL PRESSURE. IT WAS OBSERVED THAT OIL EMPTIED OUT OF THE OIL CRANKCASE BREATHIER DUE TO THE PRESSURIZATION OF THE CRANKCASE WHICH COULD BE CAUSED BY PISTON RING FAILURE. FURTHER ANALYSIS WILL BE DONE WITH THE #1 CYLINDER BY THE OWNER IF AIRCRAFT DOES NOT GET TOTALED OUT THROUGH INSURANCE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED IN A THEFT ATTEMPT ON INDIAN RESERVATION LAND. PHOTOS WERE TAKEN PRIOR TO THE THEFT SO THAT DAMAGE COULD BE SEPARATED FROM BOTH EVENTS. MOST OF THE DAMAGE OCCURRED FROM THE THEFT OF THE AIRCRAFT NOT THE ACTUALLY LOSS OF POWER EVENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
