## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED HE WAS AT 6,500 FEET IN CRUISE WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SPUTTER THEN QUIT. THE PILOT WAS ALREADY IN CONTACT WITH AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) AT THE TIME OF ENGINE FAILURE AND WAS TOLD JACKSON COUNTY AIRPORT WAS APPROXIMATELY 9 MILES AWAY.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE COULD NOT MAKE JACKSON COUNTY AIRPORT AND DECIDED TO LAND ON HIGHWAY 441. HE PICKED A GAP IN TRAFFIC AND LANDED IN THE NORTH BOUND LANE AND PULLED OFF INTO THE MEDIAN OF THE HIGHWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
