## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS EXECUTING TAKE OFFS AND LANDINGS AT THE YERINGTON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT IN YERINGTON, NEVADA. HE HADN'T FLOWN THE AIRCRAFT FOR OVER A YEAR, AND WAS PRACTICING FOR PROFICIENCY. DURING THE FIRST LANDING IN WHICH THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE, THE AIRCRAFT HAD TOUCHED DOWN, THEN BECAME AIRBORNE AGAIN, FOLLOWED BY A HARD LANDING, POSSIBLY CAUSING THE MAIN GEAR ATTACH POINT TO FAIL. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN VEERING RIGHT AND LEFT. BEFORE A GO AROUND COULD BE INITIATED, THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE RUNWAY, ENTERED THE SOFT DIRT, AND FLIPPED OVER. WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR, AS CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS PREVAILED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA493](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA493), Aug 17, 2017: Boyd Bruce RV4 (N687BP), Yerington, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare, which resulted in a bounded landing and subsequent loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
