## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING AN APPROACH FOR LANDING AT AN OFF AIRPORT HELIPAD, THE PILOT STATED "WHILE LANDING AT HELIPAD, HELICOPTER ENCOUNTERED LTE (LOSS OF TAIL ROTOR EFFECTIVENESS). I MANEUVERED THE AIRCRAFT TO VACANT PASTURE ADJACENT TO HELIPAD. AIRCRAFT THEN SLID AND TAIL ROTOR CONTACTED BARB WIRE FENCE AND CAME TO REST. THERE WERE NO INJURIES."

IN CONVERSATION, THE PILOT STATED THAT A MECHANICAL EVENT DID NOT PRECEDED HIS LOSS OF CONTROL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA495](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA495), Aug 20, 2017: Bell 206 (N6259C), Minden, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain helicopter control during landing due to a loss of tail rotor effectiveness.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
